Student Council

We had a whirlwind of a month in February. We went to a Gear-up Leadership Seminar at Region 12. We went to an advanced leadership camp in Hunt, Texas. We had Pennies for Pasta in which we raised $361.00 for the Leukemia Foundation. And, we had "lunch and a show" with the One Act Play Members. Thank you to Doublesky Catering for our wonderful meal!
In March, we will be starting our recycling project. The kids will be decorating boxes and placing them in each room at the high school. We will be collecting cans, plastic, and paper to take to a recycling station. We made St. Patrick's Day gifts for the teachers and administration to show how much they mean to us. Our state report is also due this month. The state credits student councils in different areas of leadership. Last year, we were considered outstanding as a student council and in pride and patriotism. We hope to score as well or better this year.
In April, we will show our Earth Day pride by recycling paper, plastic, and cans. We will also display 365 ways of "going green." On Earth Day, April 22, 2016, we will clean up our campus before school. We will also recognize the hard work that the administration does for us on April 27th with a token of our appreciation.
May will be here before we know it! We will have our last meeting on May 6th. Teacher appreciation is the week of May 2nd. We thank all of the teachers for their continued hard work and support that they give us every day. We will be hosting the Carter Blood Drive on May 19th at the high school from 9a-2p and our field trip on May 20th will be a lesson in our legislative process at our state capital and some much needed retail therapy at Barton Creek Mall.
Our meetings are generally on the first Friday of the month. Our next meeting will be on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 730am, in the library. Don't forget to bring your free breakfast!!
