McLennan scholarship application available online
The McLennan Community College Foundation is gearing up for another year supporting McLennan students through scholarships. The foundation’s financial assistance helps ease the burden of those looking for ways to fund their education.
Scholarship applications for the 2016-17 academic year are available online and must be completed by Jan. 15, 2016. Individuals who are considering attending McLennan in fall 2016 are encouraged to apply at www.mclennan.edu/foundation/scholarships. Those without Internet access may use the computers located in the lobby of McLennan’s Enrollment Services Center or the college’s library.
To be considered for a scholarship award, students must have a high school grade-point average of a “B” or 80 on a 100-point scale, a GED score of at least 50, or a college GPA greater than 2.5. Generally, students must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA while attending McLennan to be eligible to receive scholarship awards.
Scholarships will be awarded in April 2016 for the fall 2016 and spring 2017 semesters. Scholarship applications and online letters of recommendation must be submitted to the foundation office by 5 p.m. Jan. 15. Hard copies of transcripts must be submitted to Highlander Central in the Enrollment Services Center by 5 p.m. Jan. 15. Recipients will be asked to submit an online, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), write a thank-you note to the donor and attend the Scholarship Award Reception in the fall.
